Is it me or is the latest episode of the Star Wars saga more of a parody of the series than an actual episode? At a certain point I almost expected Kylo Ren to ask the classic Spaceballs question: “How many Assholes we got on this ship?”. The best thing about The Last Jedi is the idea of giving the salty soil of planet Crait a red hue beneath its white crystalline surface. The rest of the movie is a mixture of rehashed ideas, stupid jokes and bad acting. Luke Skywalker acts like a spoiled brat, hiding inside a stone hut to get away from Rey – who is arguably the best actress in the movie, Kylo Ren behaves more like a SciFi Draco Malfoy than the son of Darth Vader, and Vice-Admiral Holdo would have cut a great figure if only hers were the part of a school teacher. The rest of the cast seems to have been chosen more so that Episode VIII is as gender-balanced and racially-neutral movie as possible rather than a decent sequel to the classic franchise.
May the Farce be with you!
